Downloading and Installing NetBeans
Downloading the NetBeans Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
- Go to http://www.netbeans.org and click on “Download NetBeans IDE”
- You will have several options of things to download. If you don’t know which one to choose, you probably should choose the link to “NetBeans IDE 5.5 with JDK 6.0 Bundle.”
- You again will have several options. Choose “JDK 6 with NetBeans 5.5” by clicking on the “Download” button
- A new page will come up. Accept the license agreement. You should have 4 different options. Choose the windows option (the last one). It will probably be checked. You will have the option save to disk first or to open and install over the internet. I chose the first option, but it’s up to you. You also have the option to use the Sun Download manager. I choose this option, but it should not matter whether you do or not.
Installing NetBeans
- Click on the .exe file you just downloaded.
- Accept all defaults, unless of course you want to change installation directories, etc.
- I managed to get an install error of “Could not find JVM” on my tablet, but things were completely successful on my home computer and my Dell Latitude (D610).
- Go to the program menu and fire up NetBeans to make sure it works.
